DIY Tufted Bench

One Room Challenge Week 4 – Diy Tufted Bench – Sort-of

Week 1|Week 2|Week 3|Week 4|Week 5|Week 6

Time to start cruising into the home stretch, of the One Room Challenge! I love seeing what everyone else is up to in this challenge, It’s so inspiring. It’s been a bit of a struggle for me, since I am not good at decisions to begin with, so having to do them under pressure is super painful for me.  Because of that, I still have not purchased Bedding or a Rug…

Although, I do feel like I got some substantial pieces completed. I built a bed!!. In Week 2 I did the frame. Week 3 was my tufted headboard. I’m still waiting on my wallpaper, and am resigned that it may not make it here in time… If it shows up at the last minute I may have to call in sick to my day job to get it done (cough, cough).

My Big project for this Week is My…

Diy Tufted Bench

Here it is:

Ha ha. Okay, maybe it’s not quite completed. I tried, but honestly, I’m having a little bit of burnout this week. It should be done by the weekend. I still need to finish the sides and add legs, which I’m hoping to pick up tomorrow.

I used the left-over piece of MDF that I purchased to make the headboard. I used the same fabric and crystal buttons as the headboard, so it looks intentional 🙂 It’s main function is to allow my dog to get up on the bed. Okay, get ready for another gratuitous photo of my beloved Papillon Sage!!!

 I Don’t Have the Blues. I’ve Got the Greys…

I have yet to add a stitch of colour to my space… I really am trying. You know how some people are just AMAZING with colour? I’m not one of them. And since I am having such a hard time finding bedding that I love. I might just leave my existing bedding, and add in colour with the sheets, pillows and throw. Why is this so hard for me? When I look at some of the bedrooms that I have pinned it starts to become obvious to me that I like this colour palette

So maybe I won’t fight it, and just go with the flow!

Artwork

I decided that since I am not having much luck finding artwork, that I would DIY some. I do know how to paint, but I haven’t painted (artwork that is) for over TWENTY years. And I didn’t used to do abstract art, which is what I want in here. Also I used to paint in oils, and now prefer to avoid the mess, so am dabbling in acrylics. My first attempt is not worth putting on the wall. But I’ll keep plugging away at this. I’m thinking about trying out alcohol ink as I really like the way the colours blend, and that is ultimately the look that I want. Though I suspect there is a big learning curve.

I did pick up a couple of pieces of décor. Here’s a sneak peak.

This is NOT my artwork. I wish it were, since this it totally the look I’m going for!!

I’m actually pretty happy with how the space is shaping up. Just adding the frame and headboard have made the room look so much more complete. And the bed looks so snuggly, I want to jump into it all the time. (Truth time – I love my bed, I’m a world class sleeper!!)

Now to go and check out Everyone Else and the Featured Designers. There are a few people I’m watching with anticipation.

Thanks for checking in, I’ll try to have a more substantial update next week!
