Welcome to week 6 of the One Room Challenge and my Master Bedroom Reveal!! Finally some colour!!
Week 1|Week 2|Week 3|Week 4|Week 5|Week 6
First things first. A great big thank you to Linda from Calling it Home and everybody over at One Room Challenge. Also thank you to sponsors Better Homes and Gardens and Home Love Network. It has been such a pleasure to be part of this challenge. I am really in awe of what some people take on for this. Especially all of those people that did two rooms!! Just WOW. Ok, enough blathering. Let’s get on with the photos!!
Oh and just one more thing. Try to picture it with wallpaper 🙂 My wallpaper finally showed up yesterday. And I was not crazy enough to try and get it hung before the final post. I’ll have to do it on the weekend, and then update my post.
Before and Afters

Hmmm. Notice anything missing? Like maybe an actual BED frame?
Finally Some Colour
It took me FOREVER to buy bedding, but I finally did. And I love it. This was just the pop of colour and pattern that I was looking for. Woohoo! I love it when I finally find what I’m looking for. Even though it takes me forever…
The end tables were pretty sparse before. I didn’t change up the furniture, not this time anyway. I wasn’t too sad to say goodbye to those lamps!!This is my side. Don’t make fun of my ginormous alarm clock, I’m pretty much blind without my contact lenses, and this is how I get out of bed on time.
I added in the mirrors, which I stole from my upstairs bedroom. The lamps, picture frames and Bulldog
I bought for the space.
This is Greg’s side. I wanted to make sure that it felt like Greg and not just like I decorated it. So I took a couple of his old family photos, and put them in some nice modern frames. This one is of Greg and his brother Gavin, and the family pets.
Are you imagining my wallpaper
on the back wall
I am super happy with the way my tufted headboard and bedframe turned out. I think this might be my favourite part of this challenge. I keep telling Greg “I made a bed!” I am just about finished my tutorial on this. I’ll post a link here when it’s up!
Fails
I definitely failed on a few fronts 🙁
Wallpaper
I ordered my wallpaper though a website, from somewhere in China, which to be honest I didn’t clue in to until after I had ordered it. I thought I was getting a better deal, but after paying duty, it ended up costing me the same as it would have to order it through Amazon. I got it on Tuesday. No, way this was getting hung before Wednesday. I could have just ordered it from Amazon, and I would have gotten it in 2 days. But the next time, I will order from somewhere that guarantees 2 day shipping!!!! lessons, lessons…
Rug
I really struggled with choosing a rug, and didn’t want to do that until I nailed down my bedding. And by the time I finally did that, pretty late in the game. I hadn’t really left myself enough time to order my rug. I just ordered my rug, but it won’t be here in time, so you will have to come back to see it!! More reasons for you to come back and visit 🙂
Bench
Although I made my tufted bench and it turned out really well. I didn’t really like it in place. All of the best pattern detail is on the bottom of the duvet, so I was not thrilled about covering it up. Perhaps, I can find a another way to incorporate it. But for now, Angus the cat is pretty happy about his new napping spot, which he is certain that I made just for him!! I’m just not going to tell him any different 🙂 Besides isn’t knowing when to edit half the battle?
Final thoughts
I will definitely do this challenge again, just not in real time. It’s just too difficult when ordering, plus sometimes your life can get in the way 🙂
The original intent of this challenge when it was first envisioned by Linda Weinstein was to get just one room in her home completed. Although my room is not quite completed. It is by far the most complete room in my house. I think I chose well for my introduction to the One Room Challenge. My Master Bedroom wasn’t too scary to begin with and just needed some decorating, a bed, and finally some colour. It was a good exercise for me, because I am TERRIBLE at making decisions. This challenge really forces you to do that. And I think I will probably hop on again in the spring, because I really need to get my living room looking like someone lives there!. So, I will start thinking what that should look like NOW. Decision making and ordering will get started NOW. Of course when you consider that the last time I purchased a new sofa it took me over a year to make a decision… I’m already falling behind!!
Before I leave just one more gratuitous shot of my baby Sage, hanging on the new bedding
But for now, I’m going to take some time over the next few days to check out the reveals of the featured designers and the guest bloggers. And I suggest you do the same. Grab yourself a glass of wine, a coffee or martini if that’s your thing!
So, go forth and be inspired!!!

I can’t wait to see the wallpaper on the wall and how it will all come together! It looks so good already! Love the colour combos and how light and airy the room feels! Great Job!
Thanks Nat. I can’t wait either!!! Unfortunately I have to hang it first 🙂
