One Room Challenge – Week 3
Week 1|Week 2|Week3|Week4|Week5|Week 6
Holy Cow!!! It’s week 3! Which means we are half way to the finish line. Which would be awesome, if I had more done 🙁 Things are kind of moving along at a snail’s pace. But I did get one big piece completed this week!! Woot! I got my DIY diamond tufted headboard done!
I used MDF board as it was straighter than plywood. It is king sized, and the dimensions are 79″ x 48″. The fabric is steel grey velvet. I was going to do covered buttons, but at the last minute I decided to go with Crystal Upholstery Buttons instead. Luckily for me I got ONE DAY SHIPPING!!!!so I was able to keep on schedule. So far this is The only thing that has worked out for timing 🙂 Thanks Amazon Prime !!
I’m STILL shopping for bedding, a Rug and Art Work – GAK!
Tufted Headboard with Crystal Buttons
Here are some shots of my headboard. I’m really pleased with how this came out, and am planning on undertaking some more upholstery projects in the future, as I really enjoyed this one. I’ll fill up my feed with photos from my big success here. Since, I’m not faring so well on the remaining fronts 😉 Click here for the full detailed tutorial with video!
Next Week
Plans for the upcoming week, are to do a bench for the end of the bed, and to figure something out for the bedding. I might just DIY my artwork, I think I will go out and buy supplies and see what ends up on the canvas, if I hate it, there is always 1 day shipping!!!! I’m going to head out and check local retailers on the weekend for a rug, while Sage is at the groomers, having her spa day 🙂
Wallpaper
My wallpaper is still on order, and current target date for delivery is October 30th, which is only one day earlier, but I’ll take it!!
Grab a Cocktail
As always I suggest you grab a coffee or a pina colada (totally your call ;-)) and peruse some of these amazing make-overs. I am seriously inspired by what some people have taken on for this challenge, and I am sooooo happy that I went small for my first time!! Click here for the featured designers. A big shout-out to Linda and the team at One Room Challenge, Better homes and gardens and homelovenetwork and all of the other sponsors.
Also shout out to my partner Greg, who has to put up with all of my stressing about what rugs and bedding to order. He claims I continually ask his opinion, and then just do what I was going to do anyway. Hmmmm, he might be correct. Poor guy…
Thanks so much for stopping by, and hope to see you next week!! Honest, I really am planning on adding some colour 🙂

Thanks Jewel! I’m pretty pleased with how it came out. It’s not perfect. But the next one will be! 🙂
I also love your headboard. First time that I have ever seen crystal buttons on a headboard. Perfect.
Cynthia
Thanks Cynthia, I love the buttons too. It really makes it so much prettier. Who doesn’t need a little bit of extra sparkle in their life? 🙂
This headboard looks so beautiful!! I love the crystal buttons. How in the world did you get everything measured out so well so the buttons are spaced perfectly? It looks gorgeous!
Looking very fancy!
Thanks Amanda 🙂
Ummm I’m completely impressed that you did that yourself!! Please do another blog post with a step by step process of how you did this! Awesome!!
