Don’t you just love a happy accident? Me too!
I’m not quite finished with this room, but I’m going to share it with you anyways, because I’m really happy about how the wallpaper turned out. I love me some wallpaper.
A bit of background
This room is one of two bedrooms upstairs in our house. The larger of the two I use for my craft room/office. This one is the guest bedroom. Truth be told, we don’t really have too many guests. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t look fabulous, just in case!! right??
Back before we moved to our current home, I renovated Greg’s Condo. I did an overhaul of the bedroom, which you can see here, and so I already had the headboard and the bedding and these little end tables you see in the photo below.
It was clean and serviceable, but not as glam as I wanted it to be. Plus like every room in our house, it needed an infusion of colour, as you can see. Apologies for the crappy before photo. You never can go back and re-take before photos…and yet I never seem to learn 🙂Here is the same space after updating the end tables, which you can see better below. . And my new mirrors because I stole the other mirrors for the master bedroom. There is a lot of stealing of items from room to room. And despite the swapping out of furniture pieces it still totally looks like a black and white photo. Nope – that’s just grey and white at it’s finest! It really is hurting for some colour!!
End Tables
I replaced the skinny little end tables, with these much chunkier ones. You can see the full post here. I called these my ugly step sisters, for obvious reasons, if you see them in their original state. Now that they are silver and glazed I really love the way they look. And I love it more when I can take something that was free and make it into something that I can actually use in my home. So stick around, because I try to do that whenever I can.
Wallpaper
Bedroom
I have been having a bit of a love affair with wall paper lately. The first room I used it in was my Master Bedroom Makeover that I did for the One Room Challenge, with this wallpaper which I LOVE, and would use again. Actually I might use it again in the purple
, I just have to figure out where to put it.
Den
And then I put this wallpaper in the den
But this wasn’t my original pick for the den. I had ordered the blue and silver wallpaper but it didn’t really work in that space. Although, I did really like the wallpaper. It’s super heavy, and the silver is shiny and a little bit sparkly. I thought the colour would work really well in the guest bedroom. Funny thing I probably wouldn’t have ordered this for the guest bedroom, but once I saw it next to the silver end tables, and the new silver mirrors I bought, I thought it would probably work really well with those colours and finishes. And I was right!! Don’t you just love the way the silver viening in the paper plays off the end tables and mirrors?
It looks so awesome with the other silver elements in the room!! Such a happy accident the I ordered this paper – Yay!!
I think this is my best wallpaper hanging job to date. You would really have to search to pick out any seams. And for reference the size of this wall is 10’8″ wide and 7.5′ tall (6″ baseboards) and I used 2 full rolls. I actually had to do the very last row in 2 pieces, since I didn’t have a long enough piece, but since the final row was only 5″ wide, it wan’t a big deal. Besides that spot is hidden behind the night stand. I used the paste the wall method to hang this wallpaper. Man, that is sooooooo much easier than pre-pasted paper yuck!
I really love the drama that a good strong feature wall adds to a space. Look at the difference from the photo above, now that it has wallpaper. The only other colour I added to this space was with the throw pillows in a similar shade to the wallpaper. It really totally amps up the space. And I stole those from the master bedroom.
Here is a list of supplies that you’ll need to undertake that wallpaper job.

I still need to add in a few additional decor items, and we are toying with the idea of mounting a TV along the side wall. Mainly because we have an extra one kicking around. And also because it’s really nice when you are staying over somewhere to have the option to watch TV if you can’t sleep 🙂 I don’t know about you, but I usually sleep really shitty the first night anywhere that’s not my home. Which is irritating because otherwise I sleep like the dead. Zzzzzzz.
Stealing and Swapping your own Stuff!
As I mentioned above I often pillage things from other rooms if they work better, in the space I am decorating. I often buy pieces just because I love them, but sometimes it takes a bit of time for them to find their perfect place in the house. Also I generally buy things with the plan the they might be upgraded at some point. There’s no reason your decor items have to be tied to one wall or one room. You might be surprised how much better they look in another location. And let’s be honest it gives me a reason to keep shopping 🙂
Now that I have the guest bedroom up and running, it’s time to turn my attention to the guest bathroom that is right next door to it, and about that same shade to neutral gone wrong. I promise to link it up here, when I’m done.

Wow, I love that wallpaper! Your guest room looks lovely. Can’t wait to see how you redo the bathroom.
Thank you Betty!! I’m a bit addicted to wallpaper now 🙂
